Innocent people are being targeted, my heart goes out to their families. Ek bhi innocent ko maarna puri kainath ko maarne ke barabar hai,” Salman Khan said in a post on X. Superstar Shah Rukh Khan also took to his X account to express his pain over the loss of innocent lives and urged people across the nation to stay ‘strong and united’. “Words fail to express the sadness and anger at the treachery and inhumane act of violence that has occurred in Pahalgam. In times like these, one can only turn to God and say a prayer for the families that have suffered and express my deepest condolences. May we, as a nation, stand united, strong and seek justice for this heinous act,” he said in a post on X. Alia Bhatt called the news from Pahalgam ‘heartbreaking’, writing, “Innocent lives lost. Tourists, families, people who were just... living. Seeking beauty. Seeking peace. And now there's only grief.” Anushka Sharma condemned the incident as a ‘cold-blooded terror attack’, while Sidharth Malhotra said it is a ‘cowardly act’. “I have full faith in our armed forces, and I'm sure they will do the needful,” he said. Kareena Kapoor Khan, Vicky Kaushal and Sunny Deol also strongly condemned the attack. In an Instagram Story, Kareena wrote: “Beyond heartbroken for the victims and their families. Praying for the lives lost. #Pahalgam.” Hope the culprits behind ‘this heinous act’ are brought to justice, said Vicky Kaushal. “Can’t imagine the pain of the family members of those who lost their loved ones in the absolute inhumane act of terrorism in Pahalgam. My deepest condolences and prayers,” he added. Earlier, Akshay Kumar, Sonu Sood, Sanjay Dutt, Kamal Haasan and Ritesh Sidhwani condemned the attack. Nani, who shot for his Telugu film Hit: The Third Case in Pahalgam three months ago, said he was speechless. “Over 200 people team for almost 20 days. Pahalgam was like a dream. The place, the people and the warmth... Why?” he wrote in an X post. In an X post, Pushpa 2 star Allu Arjun said he was heartbroken. “Such a beautiful place with kind hearted people . Condolences to all the families, near and dear of the victims. May their innocent souls rest in peace. Truly heart-breaking (sic)” he wrote. Actor Suniel Shetty wrote on X that it was an attack on ‘the soul of Kashmir and its centuries-old legacy of hospitality’. Sunny Deol said it was high time that ending terrorism became a priority. “Victims are only innocent people, humans need to look within themselves. I stand with the affected families in this hour of grief. #PahalgamTerroristAttack,” he wrote in Hindi. Actor-filmmaker Ajay Devgn said he was shocked to hear about the terrorist attack. “The victims and their families were innocent souls, and what happened is heartbreaking and purely evil. My thoughts and prayers are with them,” he wrote on X. An emotional Anupam Kher shared a selfie video on social media with the caption: “Wrong. Wrong. Wrong!! Pahalgam massacre! Words are incompetent today!! #Pahalgam.” — PTI OVELY actress Priyanka Setia, associated with a host of prestige projects like Khufiya, Sacred Games 2, The Office et al, may not yet be a household name. With a large body of work, including plays like the path-breaking The Vagina Monologues behind her, she rarely fails to nail her parts, small or big. As she once again makes a mark in Amazon Prime Video’s web series Khauf in a key character of Reema, thoughts like how to stand out in an ensemble cast do not bother her. Nor is she rankled by the fact that even though she has given her best, reviews may or may not mention her superlative performance. She says, “If you start getting upset over such small matters, you will only mess up your head. For me what matters is that my director, showrunner and writer are happy.” Writing is what anyway makes her say yes to a part. Since creator and writer Smita Singh is someone whose work she had seen in Sacred Games (Priyanka too starred in second season), there was no reason to say no to Khauf. She quips, “It was a no-brainer.” Horror, indeed, isn’t the easiest watch and we wonder if it is equally difficult for actors to step into the horror verse. Well, firstly she doesn’t think Khauf is your average horror, filled with jump scares and regular ghost-haunted mansions. Only I don’t think this is how it works.” Yes, the part that would launch her on the national consciousness might still elude her. But her metric is not the length of screen-time, rather how deep and meaningful the role is. Former flight attendant and model Priyanka turned to acting for the sheer love of its craft and art. Trained under the likes of thespian Pankaj Kapur, her first teacher, she learnt the all important lesson of how to use body as a tool of acting. Acting, after all, she surmises is all about giving and receiving. Of course, after signing Khauf, one look at the star cast and she was a wee bit daunted. “Imagine acting with such phenomenal actors, all of whom were going to bring in their A game. I was a tad apprehensive about whether I could do justice to what the writer had written and what the makers had envisioned.” Judging by her performance, perhaps, she needn’t have worried. Dead right in her observation, “When a series works, credit goes to the entire cast,” to glamour struck aspiring actors her advice is equally on point, “Whatever may be your Diljit Dosanjh excited about Sardaar Ji 3 UP NEXT Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh is eager to showcase his film Sardaar Ji 3 to the audience. Just as she plumbed the psyche of Reema in Khauf, a character which stayed with her for a long time, and hopefully in people’s memory too. Only to keep refreshing our memory log she will be seen in Raat Akeli Hai 2 and a movie she is not at liberty to talk about yet.
