He added that he had come with a message of peace. This was the first visit of any Indian PM to Ukraine. “We (India) are not neutral. From the very beginning, we have taken sides. And we have chosen the side of peace. We have come from the land of Buddha where there is no place for war,” Modi said in his opening remarks during the talks with Zelenskyy . “I have come with a message of peace, from India and the Global South. We are ready to take part in peace efforts. Our approach is people centric and we support sovereignty and territorial integrity,’’ Modi said. Making the announcement in the Assembly Chief Minis, ter Mohan Charan Majhi said the scheme will be launched at the earliest and transform the lives of more than one crore women of the state. All eligible women between 21 years and 60 years of age will be covered under the scheme. The beneficiaries will be paid `10,000 per annum in two installments of `5,000 each on Rakhi Purnima and International Women’s Day on March 8. The duration of the scheme will be five years and each beneficiary will receive `50,000 over the period. The scheme has been approved for implementation from 2024-25 to 2028-29. An outlay of `55,825 crore has been approved for the initiative, the chief minister said. The SOP was approved was a meeting of the cabinet presided over by the chief minister on Thursday . Stating that the state government is committed towards ‘ ntyodaya’, the chief A minister said women from economically well-off families, government employees and Income Tax payees will not be eligible for the cash handout. HC asks CBI to take over RG Kar corruption probe S U L A G N A SE N G U P TA @ Kolkata THE Calcutta High Court on Friday transferred the probe by the West Bengal government-constituted SIT into alleged financial irregularities at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital during the tenure of former principal Sandip Ghosh, to the CBI. The ruling came on a petition by the hospital’s former deputy superintendent Dr Akhtar Ali seeking an Enforcement Directorate probe into the irregularities. A single-judge bench of Justice Rajarshi Bharadwaj said that since the probe into the brutal rape-murder of a junior doctor at the hospital on August 9 has been entrusted to the CBI, investigation into this matter, too, ought to be transferred to the same agency to ensure a comprehensive and unbiased inquiry . The HC directed the CBI to take over the investigation by Saturday 10 am by when the state administration must hand over all case-related documents including the case diary and CCTV footages. The CBI has been directed to submit a status report by September 17, when the HC will hear the matter next. Meanwhile, a city court permitted the CBI to conduct a polygraph test on Ghosh and five others in connection with the rape-murder case.
