He is admitted to the hospital since Tuesday and a huge police force has been deployed in and around the institute to maintain law and order. Three farmers who were entering the hospital area leading to emergency ward were stopped by police personnel on duty. The trio started arguing with the officials and tried to enter the hospital. Later, they started a protest and raised slogans against the government, which caused inconvenience to patients going towards the emergency ward. The family and relatives of the woman protested outside the hospital and later blocked the DelhiAmritsar National Highway. Doctors at the hospital also went on a strike and later, the police reached the scene. Jagjit Singh, husband of deceased Sandeep Kaur, said his wife was bleeding after the delivery but staff did not pay attention to her deteriorating health and failed to call the doctor on time. The woman was referred to another hospital but she died before reaching the place. The family wants to get a case registered against the doctor. Meanwhile, doctors said they were not to be blamed for the death of the patient. Still, if the family was not convinced, they could get the autopsy done. Later, police officials reached the scene and got the protesters removed from the road and it was decided to get the autopsy done outside Khanna so that the result could not be influenced. Autopsy will be conducted at Fatehgarh Sahib. But the plant was not able to consume the entire quantity of cow dung generated in the complex due to capacity constraints. The administration is working to set up another biogas plant in the complex so that the entire quantity of cow dung is consumed in the biogas plants. Ludhiana, November 28 Taking another initiative to stop dumping of cow dung into the Buddha Nullah, the Municipal Corporation (MC) has designated certain sites for dumping of the same by dairy unit owners in the Haibowal dairy complex. Further, the civic body has also tied up with a vermicompost firm, Agricare Organic Farms, in Madarpura village for proper disposal of cow dung. The firm uses it for vermicomposting. Working under the guidance of MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal, a system has been put in place wherein the dairy owners have been directed to dump cow dung at the designated sites. From there, cow dung is being shifted to the vermicompost plant by civic body teams for its proper disposal. The dairy unit owners have been directed to dump the cow dung only at the designated sites only and it should not be dumped in the Bud- dha Nullah or sewer lines of the civic body. MC teams have been spreading awareness among dairy unit owners and challans are also being issued against violators. In the first incident, the Shimlapuri police arrested Pradeep Verma from Gurmukh Road during patrolling on Wednesday. The police got a tip-off about the man indulging in smuggling of liquor, following which, Verma was arrested from his confectionary shop on Gurmukh Road. The police have recovered 36 bottles of Punjab Dollar XXX rum from his custody. Verma, a resident of Ravidass Chowk, Dhaba, has been taken on police remand. In the other incident, the Model Town police have arrested three persons, Rana, Neeraj and Jony Kumar, for smuggling liquor. The police recovered 24 bottles of Royal Stag Whisky from their possession. During a police patrolling, the suspects were arrested from Manohar Nagar. The Shimlapuri police and Model Town police have registered separate cases against the four suspects under Sections 61, 4and 14 of the Excise Act. On the one hand, the activists threatened to block polluted water flow from CETPs on December 3 and on the other, dyeing units labelled the NGOs as “blackmailers” and said they would not let it happen.
