While the Lok Sabha did not transact any business, papers were laid in the Rajya Sabha before it was adjourned for the day. Both issues found an echo outside Parliament also even as the Centre and the Opposition launched verbal barbs at each other. PM Narendra Modi set the tone for the day when he attacked the Congress by saying that those rejected by the people “80-90 times” were disrupting Parliament for their personal gains. INSIDE Pb hikes cane SAP to ~401 per quintal, highest in country CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Government has increased the State Agreed Price (SAP) of sugarcane by Rs 10 per quintal to Rs 401 per quintal (for early maturing sugarcane). With this, cane growers in the state will get the highest price in the country. The SAP for mid-maturing and late-maturing varieties has been fixed at Rs 391 per quintal, up from Rs 381 per quintal in 2023-24. The hike, however, has not gone down well with the owners of private sugar mills, which have the capacity to crush 70 per cent of the total sugarcane produced in the state. They said they would pay Rs 339.50 per quintal to the farmers, while the state could pay the remaining Rs 61.50 per quintal of SAP INSIDE .
