Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Paramdeep Singh Saini said in order to facilitate the passengers to get unreserved tickets, ATVMs are being installed. Buying unreserved ticket from an ATVM machine is very easy and convenient. Passenger will not have to stand in queues to buy unreserved tickets from railway counters and will not have to face the problem of getting small denomination of currency. He was wanted in a robbery case that took place six months ago. Same revolver was used by accused in a robbery case The accused was identified as Bachitar Singh of Rajoke village in Tarn Taran. The police recovered a .32 bore revolver and a car from his possession. Jhilmil Singh, SHO, Chatiwind police station, said the revolver would be sent for forensic examination. He said his backward and forward linkages were being ascertained and those found involved in the robbery would be arrested. Tarn Taran, November 25 An unidentified person committed suicide by sprinkling petrol on himself outside the main gate of the District Administrative Complex (DAC) here on Monday. The man died on the spot. He was about 65 years old and an Amritdhari Sikh. A police team led by Subinspector Avtar Singh, SHO, Sadar police, reached the spot immediately along with a posse of policemen. SHO Avtar Singh, with reference to the eyewitnesses, said the deceased had just come out of the DAC and sprinkled petrol on himself outside the main gate. He had brought the petrol with himself and lit the fire with a matchbox. Nanak Singh, an employee of the office, brought a fire extinguisher but his efforts were in vain. The police brought him to the local Civil Hospital where the doctors declared him dead. The body has been kept in the mortuary of the hospital where it would be kept for 72 hours for identification. It is speculated that the deceased had come to the office for some work but it could not be done. — OC Amritsar, November 25 Officials of the Agriculture Department has advised farmers to inspect their wheat fields daily for any pest attacks after reports of such incidents in Malwa area. The officials stated that no such incident has been reported here so far. Chief Agriculture Officer Tajinder Singh said the farmers should make it a habit to visit their fields daily and inspect the crop. He said the farmers should inspect the crop thoroughly and see if any pests are there in the soil which are damaging roots. The officials said chemical sprays should only be used after consultation with agriculture officials and in the required doses only. The farmers should also irrigate mildly their wheat fields after 21 days of the sowing of wheat.
