Complainant Bhushan, a resident of Sector 38, reported that his nephew Hardeep Kumar was hit by an unidentified vehicle on the road from Dhanas to Togan. The victim was rushed to the GMSH in Sector 16 where he was declared brought dead. A case has been registered at the Sarangpur police station. TNS IMMIGRATION AGENT BOOKED Chandigarh: An immigration consultant has been booked by the Chandigarh Police for cheating. In her complaint to the police, a woman resident of Patiala had stated that Vikas Sharma, the owner of Immigration Solution, along with others, allegedly duped her of around Rs 41.50 lakh on the pretext of sending her abroad on study visa. A case has been registered. TNS JUVENILE HELD FOR STABBING Chandigarh: A juvenile has been apprehended by the Chandigarh Police for stabbing a Hallo Majra resident. Complainant Sonu Kumar Yadav reported that an unidentified person stabbed him with a knife near his house. He sustained injuries in the attack and was admitted to the GMCH-32. A case was registered. The voting took place yesterday and the results were declared today. The elections were conducted after a gap of eight years. Anurag Aggarwal (54) has been elected as the vice-president. The new governing body will serve for a threeyear term. Industrialist Khanna defeated his nearest rival Naresh Chaudhary by a margin of 128 votes. The third candidate, Ramneet Singh Chahal, managed to secure only 104 votes. Khanna is aligned with the group of outgoing presi- dent Sandeep Sahni. Aggarwal received 1,129 votes for the post of vice-president, while his nearest rival Karan Vir Nanda got 1,110. The third candidate, Anurag Chopra, secured 973 votes. Of the 7,441 eligible members, 3,292 had cast their votes. The outgoing council was elected in 2016, but subsequent elections were delayed owing to legal disputes and the Covid-19 pandemic. The eight elected executive members are Jasman Singh Rikhy, Dr Vikram Bedi, Rohit Suri, Paramveer Babla, Rachit Goyal, Aadesh Joshi, Vikas Bector and Sanjay Pahwa. The gap between the two surfaces of the road is around Continued on page 2 Chandigarh, November 17 Despite a policy, the UT Secretariat in Sector 9 here has failed to scrap as many as 14 vehicles which were declared condemned during 2023-24. The observation was made by the Director General of Audit (Central) in its report. As per the policy, vehicles that are declared condemned or have reached 15 years of age, whichever is earlier, will not be auctioned. All such vehicles shall be scrapped at the Registered Vehicle Scrap Facility (RVSF). The UT Secretariat serves as the administrative hub for the Union Territory, overseeing governance and public services in the region. According to the audit report obtained under the RTI Act by RK Garg, during checking of record of the office of the Secretary Establishment, Chandigarh, for the period 2023-24, it was noticed that 14 vehicles of the department were declared as condemned, but not scrapped, leading to financial loss to the government. TRIBUNE PHOTO: NITIN MITTAL Panchkula, November 17 The sixth edition of Dog Show at a ground in Sector 3 here was no less than a festival for canine breeds, breeders, dog lovers and pet owners. More than 400 dogs of different breeds participated in the event, including German Shepherd, Huskies, Pomeranian, Rottweiler, Doberman, Bull Terrier, Great Dane, Spaniel, Tibetan Mastiff, Chow Chow, Poodle, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Shih Tzu, Chihuahua and whatnot! Chand Behal, who has been grooming his Shih Tzu for the past over five years, was deeply engrossed in making his pet presentable for the competition. Imported from Philippines, it costs him close to Rs 20,000 a month to maintain that topcoat, which can grow to be quite long and is fine and silky, while the undercoat is soft and feathery. As far as the diet is concerned, Behal explains, “He c m y b (Shih Tzu) only eats raw chicken and rice. Cops seized a pistol and five live rounds from him. The suspect, identified as Satpreet Singh, alias Satti, of Dandrala village in Mohali has been booked at the Lalru police station. “Acting on human and technical inputs, Satti’s movement was traced near Lehli village this morning. He, along with an accomplice, was coming on a motorcycle from the Ambala side towards Lalru. They were chased on the national highway after which they took a link road. When cornered, they opened fire on the police team. They fired three rounds which hit the police vehicle. As the police team retaliated, Satti sustained a bullet injury on his right leg while his accomplice managed to flee,” said Dera Bassi DSP Bikramjit Singh Brar. He was taken to the GMCH32 in Chandigarh for treatment. The police said his accomplice was being tracked and would be arrested soon. The pistol recovered from the spot appears to be countrymade. More details would be known once cops interrogate the suspect thoroughly. Satti’s gang targeted motorists on the AmbalaDera Bassi national highway and was involved in multiple robberies and snatching incidents in Punjab and Haryana. SUSPECT A HISTORY-SHEETER ■ Satpreet Singh Satti is a hardened criminal and involved in henious crimes, the police said. ■ Satti, 34, leads a gang of sixseven members, who used to rob commuters of valuables at gunpoint. ■ He had spent time in jail in an attempt to murder case in Punjab in 2012-2013.
