MLAs and local party leaders are trying to built a connect with the people and the ruling party is on the spree to inaugurate new projects and also issuing instructions to Municipal Corporation regarding civic amenities and regular meetings are being held for the same. On Thursday, Atam Nagar MLA Kulwant Singh Sidhu directed the civic body officials to ensure cleanliness and potable water supply to the residents across the constituency. The officials were also directed to expedite the development works and ensure that there is no compromise with the quality of the development works. Further, MLA Sidhu directed the officials concerned that the grievances submitted by the public should be resolved at the earliest. Similarly, for facilitating the public at large and for developing quality infrastructure across the constituency, Ludhiana North MLA Madan Lal Bagga conducted a meeting with the civic body officials at MC Zone A office on Friday. During the meeting, strict instructions were issue to the officials concerned to B&R branch and O&M cell that no laxity would be tolerated in terms of development works and the officials should make every effort to expedite the development works. MLA Bagga said he himself is monitoring the development works on a daily basis and the officials should also move in the field to ensuring that the development works are expedited and there is no compromise with the quality of works. Taking steps to improve water supply infrastructure, Atam Nagar MLA Kulwant Singh Sidhu inaugurated the a tubewell near D10 park in Model House area of ward number 51 on Thursday. A 12.50 HP tubewell has been installed in the area at a cost of around Rs 5.5 lakh. MLA Madan Lal Bagga inaugurated the project to reconstruct the streets of Durgapuri, Haibowal this week. The proj- ect is being taken up at a cost of around Rs 49.60 lakh and concrete roads would be constructed under the project. A Congress leader said inaugurating projects before elections would not help the Aam Aadmi Party. “People have come to know the reality of this party and delayed MC elections have actually become a blessing a disguise for other parties as people are now aware of the fact that this party is not going to do any good for them. City resident, Amarpreet Kaur said she has seen a spurt in the political activity at the local level. “Politicians act only when they are required to. It should be the case for the entire term, not just when any elections are nearing,” she said. Ravi Kumar, a resident of Durgapuri, said from the past many months, then work of construction of the roads in their area was pending and finally it has seen light of the day. “The MC elections have been announced and the ruling party wants to be in the good books of the people. The police also recovered one motorcycle from the accused. The arrested accused were identified as Ravinder Kumar, alias Golu, native of Bihar, a resident of Kishore Nagar, Rahul, a native of UP , also now a resident of Kishore Nagar and Sagar resident of Sherpur. Inspector Varinderpal Singh Uppal said acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid and nabbed the accused identified as Ravinder and Rahul. The accused identified as Surinder Shinda, a resident of Hissowal village, has been arrested. The injured woman alleged that they were shot at over Rs 10,000 money dispute. “One of my acquaintance needed money and I had asked Shinda to lend money to my acquaintance. Suspended teacher awaits half salary Ludhiana, November 16 The head teacher of Government School, Millanpur, who was suspended in September after she failed to take the exam in the school due to “paucity of funds” is yet to receive her half salary. Khushminder Kaur said: “Suspended government employees are entitled to half salary. For the last 40-45 days, I have not received my half pay.” She added that the department staff was not giving a satisfactory reply regarding the delay. The CM had issued a letter to various departments that salary of no employee should be withheld, still I am not able to get the pay, she rued. Dimple Madan, DEO (Secondary) could not be contacted. — TNS Patanjali duped of ~4.1cr by ex-employees, transporter Tribune News Service Ludhiana, November 16 The Moti Nagar police station yesterday registered a case of fraud against the former employees of Patanjali and one transporter who duped the company of several crores. After conducting the investigation, the police registered a case and launched further probe into the case. Patanjali’s former employees, identified as Pankaj Khurana, Ankush Grover, and transporter Jagpreet Singh. They had duped the company of ~4.10 crore. Ashish Rana, an official of Patanjali in his complaint to the Police Commissioner, Ludhiana, on March 20, 2024, had stated that the accused created 288 fake bills in the name of six firms. The bills were used to transfer ~4.10 crore into Jagpreet’s account. The complainant further stated that Pankaj and Ankush, former Patanjali employees, misused their credentials to generate fake bills. After a 9-month probe, Moti Nagar police registered a case against the trio under sections 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust), 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 467 (forgery of valuables securities and wills), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document) of the Indian Penal Code, 1860. Inspector Varinder Pal Singh Uppal said after registering a case against the accused, raids were being conducted at the whereabouts of the accused and they would be arrested soon.
