The arrested suspects were identified as Aditya Kapoor, aka Makhan, a resident of the Lahori Gate area, and Ravinder Singh, a resident of Akarpura village in Gurdaspur. The police confiscated four weapons, including one sophisticated 9mm Glock pistol, two foreignmade .30 bore pistols and one .32 bore pistol along with five magazines and 14 live cartridges from their possession. While sharing details, DGP Gaurav Yadav said acting on specific intelligence inputs, the Counter Intelligence, Amritsar, laid a naka near cattle ground on the Mehta road. Officials of the wing signalled two motorcycle borne youth to stop at the naka, he said. During search, officials recovered arms and ammunition from the suspects, he said. Officials also impounded motorcycle of the suspects bearing registration number PB18Z5033, the DGP added. The DGP further said these crime syndicates were rivals of the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria crime syndicate. They had received consignments of weapons arranged by Dony Bal and Mannu Ghanshampuria. They were hatching a conspiracy to commit some heinous crimes in the state on their directions, the DGP said. It is pertinent to mention here that armed operatives of Canada-based gangsterturned terrorist Lakhbir Singh, alias Landa Harike, had recently killed a friend of Dony Bal at Sathiala village. Commission agent Gurdeep Singh, aka Gokha, was shot dead in broad daylight on October 24. The perpetrators of the crime were later nabbed by the Amritsar (Rural) police and the Tarn Taran police following brief encounters. The police have registered a case at the State Special Operation Cell police station against the arrested suspects and initiated further probe. Amritsar, November 8 In a shocking incident, a lawyer identified as Baljit Mann, allegedly brutally hacked his wife to death in Judge Nagar locality here late last evening. The accused himself called the police and surrendered. The deceased was identified as Vikramjit Kaur (37). She was teacher in a private school. The SHO said that Mandeep Kaur was attending to calls on her mobile phone when the robbers entered into a scuffle with her and tore her garments. The police have arrested two suspects, identified as Deepak Dogra and Himanshu Agarwal of Katra Charat Singh in this connection while two others, including Gogi of the same locality, are on the run. The police registered a murder case against the suspects. Jeevan Kumar, an uncle of the deceased, told the police that on November 1, after bursting crackers on Diwali, Shubham along with his friends Karan Sharma, Sumit Kumar and Prince Sohal, all of the same locality, had gone to the market to get some food. When they did not return by 3 am, he went to look for them. He said when he reached near Gali Lala Wali, he saw seven persons assaulting his nephew with sharp weapons and bricks. Among them were Deepak Dogra, Himanshu Agarwal, Gogi and other unknown persons. The complainant said he rushed Shubham to Civil Hospital to where doctors referred him to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital after giving first aid. As his condition was critical, they shifted him to a private hospital where he died yesterday, he said. Amritsar, November 8 Day after a woman committed suicide by jumping from the top floor of the historic Gurdwara Baba Atal Rai in the Golden Temple complex, the police today booked her in-laws including her husband Vishal Kapoor in the case on charges of abetment to suicide. They were booked following statements by the victim’s family who accused her in-laws of repeatedly harassing her. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Vishaljit Singh has confirmed the development and said that further probe was on. The suspects were yet to be arrested. The post-mortem of the victim would be conducted tomorrow as her family members wanted registration of an FIR against her inlaws. As it took time to register an FIR, the autopsy could not be conducted today. In the incident, the woman Sanyogita (35), a resident of Katra Dal Singh area, ended her life by jumping from the top floor of the historic Gurudwara Baba Atal Rai. She had come alone to the shrine. Initially, the police did not find any identity documents from her. The incident occurred at around 9.30 am. The way to the upper floors of the shrine opens for public at around 7.30 am and closes at around 10.30 am. The family members alleged that they got information that she was missing at around 1pm. They said that around eight days ago, a quarrel had taken place in her family.
