The victim suffered bruises as she tried to escape the hold of the intruder, the reports added. 188 Pak Hindus get Indian citizenship in Gujarat STATESMAN NEWS SERVICE NEW DELHI, 18 AUGUST Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Sunday distributed citizenship certificates to 188 refugees under the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Ahmedabad. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel was present. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Shah said the CAA is not just to give citizenship to millions of people settled in the country, but to give justice and rights to millions of refugees. He said that due to the appeasement policy of the Congress governments, the people who took refuge in the country from 1947 to 2014 did not get justice. These people had to endure abuse not only in India’s neighbouring countries but also here. Mr Shah said that these people yearned for justice for three generations but due to the appeasement policy of the Opposition, they did not get justice. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given justice to these lakhs of people. The Home Minister said that at the time of Independence, India was divided on the basis of religion and there were severe riots. The Congress government then had promised that people from Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, Jain and Christian communities coming from neighbouring countries would be given citizenship, but the promise was not kept. The Union Home Ministry has asked all state police forces to submit situation reports every two hours on the ongoing protests by medical professionals and others against the alleged rape and murder of a junior doctor at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. In a communication to the state police forces, the home ministry said that the law and order situation of all states should be monitored in view of the protests. “Regarding two hourly law and order situation reports. The competent authority has desired to monitor the law and order situation no other woman suffers such a fate,” the lawyers wrote in their letter to the CJI. Recognising microplastic pollution as an emerging threat that requires immediate attention, the project titled 'Micro-and NanoPlastics as Emerging Food Contaminants: Establishing Validated Methodologies and Understanding the Prevalence in Different Food Matrices' was started in March this year to develop and validate analytical methods for detecting micro and nano-plastics in various food products, as well as assess their prevalence and exposure levels in India, it said. The Union Health Ministry said the primary objectives of the project include developing standard protocols for micro/nano-plastic analysis, conducting intraand inter-laboratory comparisons, and generating critical data on microplastic exposure levels among consumers.
