Speaker Om Birla adjourned the Lok Sabha for the day, shortly before the Motion of Thanks was to be taken up after 12 noon, as members of the Congress and other Opposition parties walked into the Well of the House and surrounded the officials’ table. The members were supporting Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s demand for admission of an adjournment motion to have a “dedicated” discussion on the paper leak scam. The Opposition insisted on the adjournment despite the Speaker’s advice that no adjournment motion or zero hour is allowed when the Presi- T Opposition leaders stage a protest in the Well of the Rajya Sabha against NEET exam scam during the ongoing session in Parliament in New Delhi on Friday. Mr Birla said the whole House had responsibility to ensure its proper functioning. In a planned manner, the House was not being allowed to run. Mr Rijiju said he condemned the Congress members coming into the well of the House, ignoring conventions. The Speaker said methods of opposition in the streets and in Parliament cannot be the same, and adjourned the House for the day. ANI AGRAJ PRATAP SINGH NEW DELHI, 28 JUNE One man died, while six others were injured after a portion of a canopy at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport'sTerminal-1 fell on vehicles following heavy rains early on Friday. The incident took place at around 5 a.m amid a heavy downpour, and the canopy outside the Terminal-1 of IGIA (domestic) spanning from Gate no 1 to Gate no 2, collapsed damaging four vehicles and injuriing several people. According to police, the six injured are stable and were given medical treatment. Images and videos of the incident showing the canopy fallen on some cabs circulated on social media with serious damage visible on the vehicles. Following the incident, the trapped people were rescued by Delhi Police, fire services, CISF and NDRF teams. Flight departures from the terminal were suspended after the incident. A senior police officer said that a case under section 304A/337 of the IPC has been registered in this regard and the investigation has been taken up. Upon receiving the news, Union Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu visited the spot and took stock of the situation. Heavy rains lashed Delhi and other parts of the NCR on Friday morning bringing life to a standstill. According to the IMD, the city received a record breaking 228 mm of rainfall during the past 24 hours, up to 8.30 am on Friday morning, the heaviest in decades. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief Hemant Soren, who had been facing a probe in an alleged land scam case, was released from the Birsa Munda Jail following a bail order from the Jharkhand High Court on Friday. Hemant Soren, accompanied by his wife and party members, left the jail on Friday evening. The JMM leader's wife, Kalpana Soren expressed gratitude for the bail order and said: “This day has finally come after a long time. Thank you very much.” Mr Soren was arrested by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) in January on charges related to an alleged land scam and money laundering under the PMLA. His party, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha , was jubilant at the news of his release, with many party leaders gathering in front of the Birsa Munda Jail to welcome him. Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee was also among those who hailed the release of Mr Soren. (Page 10)
