They say a father is his daughter’s first love, for “Every woman may not be a queen to her husband but she is always a princess to her father”. My late father, Hyder Bilgrami, was a very learned man. He would always quote Shakespeare, Aristotle, and Ghalib, and would often narrate anecdotes from their work to my sister and I. Truly an inspiration to us, his knowledge surpassed anyone's I knew. With Father’s Day around the corner—on June 18, we at You & I give an ode to some fathers in the city, both new and old, for all their efforts and dedication towards giving their children a comfortable life.
