Each year, on January 26, a patriotic fervour fills the air. An important day for all Indians, it brings about a display of the tri-colour everywhere around us. The celebrations not only bring everyone together, but they’re also a tribute to the country and its rich culture and diversity. There is an invisible bond, an unseen pathway that connects all Indians around the world without even putting it into words. It’s simply the power of our country that we are so proud of. Our Feature Story this week celebrates our great country and pays tribute to all the military personnel who protect all the people of our great nation, even though they may not know them personally.
On the cover, we have Dr P. Raghu Ram, a breast surgeon who needs no special introduction to the city, or even the medical fraternity the world over. While words fall short to describe the magnitude of his success and achievements, during the cover interview for our Republic Day special issue, he reminisces about the Republic Day celebrations of 2015, when he was conferred the prestigious Padma Shri award.
In People in Focus, we have Suma, a multitalented multitasker, an avid reader, a musician, and now a successful restauranteur. After studying electronics and communication engineering, she is now the proud owner of Kaficko, a European all-day café, and Haiku - The Asian Kitchen.
In addition to the happiness and national pride associated with Republic Day, it is also important to celebrate the day by being productive, positive, and aware of the changes occurring both inside and outside the country. So, check Mind & Body and try out a few activities – for both the mind and the body – that will help ourselves and, in turn, contribute to the greater good of the country.
Grand Getaways features construction manager Ram Jagirdar, who wasn’t really into travelling until he watched the movie Into the Wild. Using Philadelphia as his base, Ram took two-and three-day trips to 23 of the 50 states in the US and tells us all about it!
