On the afternoon of September 28, it welcomed two young, promising leaders in its midst in the presence of Rahul Gandhi—the 34-year-old political activist Kanhaiya Kumar and the 38-year-old Gujarat Dalit leader Jignesh Mevani. The latter, though, has not joined the Congress formally.
