Even as the ghost of coalgate refuses to die, fresh controversies keep on piling up. In an exclusive interview with Coal Insights, P C Parakh, former coal secretary who is named as accused in CBI's FIR, has alleged that "lack of political will" had stalled efforts to hold open bidding for blocks in 2004. He has also opposed the current spree of block cancellation, saying it is a "remedy far worse than the disease".
