Art special edition, our first issue of the new year.
Radhika Chopra’s home in Delhi—another historic mansion, built by the not-so-known but important architect Karl Malte von Heinz—really embodies her relationship with art. Art itself is her home, her point of departureand arrival, as she so succinctly says.
London-based artist Lubna Chowdhary generously gave us an artwork, titled Certain Times, as an insert in the magazine, for readers to tear out and put up on their walls. Architect Rajiv Saini understands the deadlines of a publication like no other and gave us, on a silver platter, a spectacular Art Deco home in south Kolkata, full of modern masters.
And like last finishing touches, AD100 architects Abha Narain Lambah and Pankaj Vir Gupta and Christine Mueller won a spot each on the AD WOW List, our first global collaboration where all international editors together curated a list of 20 of the best projects this year. And so, in a ‘circle of life’ kind of way, the stories and people found each other, all anchored in this one single issue dedicated to art. I really hope you enjoy it!
What’s a beautiful picture book without the stories behind them?
