About this issue

Hello dear readers, Republic Day has been celebrated every year in India on January 26th since 1950, to honour the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect. Every year, this day is celebrated with a grand parade that takes place in New Delhi. This year too, inspite of the pandemic situation, the 72nd Republic Day parade on Rajpath was enigmatic. Do you know that Rajpath was not the organizing centre for the parade from 1950 to 1954? During these years, the parade was held at Irwin Stadium (now Dhyan Chand stadium), Kingsway, Red Fort, and Ramleela Maidan respectively. Rajpath became the permanent venue for the parade of 26th January since AD 1955. Rajpath was known by the name ‘Kingsway’ at that time.
