Dear Readers Do you know what day it is today! Today is National Elephant Appreciation Day. Let me tell you why I hold this day so dear. I was well into adulthood when I first saw the movie ‘Horton Hears a Who’ by Doctor Seuss. The simplicity of the story and the vastness of the author’s imagination resonated something in me. I fell in love with the main character – Horton. He was a lovable blue elephant who stood for what he believed was right. But there are more reasons to love an elephant – · They are blessed with great memory and it makes them quite faithful. Why? Because they forget nothing. · Elephants display a variety of emotions such as self-awareness, happiness, sadness, mimicry, grief, playtime, and tool use. · They have been documented to form lifelong friendships. · Elephants hug each other by putting their trunks in each other’s mouths, thereby offering comfort. · Elephants can listen with their feet. · They are environment friendly. They disperse seeds, create clearing by breaking up thorny bushes and trees, and digging wells. Enjoy the edition Priyanka
