Dear Readers, Today is the International Day of Peace. It is a day to celebrate non-violence. The theme that is followed this year is ‘Recovering Better for an Equitable and Sustainable World’ i.e., to come together in these testing times of the pandemic, to work together in making a world that is equal, just, inclusive, sustainable, and healthier, and achieve this by spreading compassion and kindness. The United Nations encourages everyone to observe non-violence and cease-fire on this day. Do you know what this means? This means that you can ask your parents to witness today as a day to not get angry with you and to resolve all conflicts in a non-violent way and in a compassionate manner. With exams approaching quickly, this day could not have come at a better time. Since time immemorial, the exam time is biannually observed as a time when anxious parents have sleepless nights, children get scolded for minutest of spelling mistakes, and jokes about studies are at a standstill. Also scared children are seen avoiding their parents. Businesses also suffer as most of the play areas run empty. So, let’s come together this International Day of Peace to raise awareness about this important issue as well and to observe complete non-violence which includes raising voices and eyebrows.
