About this issue

Hello Readers,   Today is Kokborok Day. It is a festival celebrated in Tripura to celebrate the development of Kokborok language. It is an ancient language of North East India. It has been spoken for thousands of years by the Tripuri clan. All the people who speak Kokborok are known as Tripuris. Tripuris are the largest tribal community in Tripura. Kokborok was made the official language of Tripura on Jan 19th, 1979. Its script is called Koloma. The revival of the script is in process.   The Tripuris celebrate Kokborok day by organizing a cultural and literary festival. Even if we cannot go to Tripura to observe the day, let’s devise a way to celebrate it on our own by learning more about the language. Kok means language, and borak means people.   Let the fun begin 1.    What is your name? – Nini mung tamo? 2.    My name is Priyanka. – Ani mung Priyanka. 3.    How are you? - Nwng kahamde? 4.    Yes, I am fine. – Au, ang kahmano. 5.    I am eating. – Ang chahui tongo. 6.    I am sleeping. – Ang thuui tongo. 7.    I love you. – Ang nana hamjakgo. 8.    What are you doing? – Tamo khy tong? Isn’t learning a new language a whole lot of fun.   Enjoy the edition!   Priyanka
