About this issue

Highlights of India Today Hindi 6th October 2021, issue: Cover story: Happiness (Special Issue)   Khushi Ki Talash Insights from scientists, preachers and inspirational individuals on how To find your bliss and share it. Far from being any one thing, it defies definition, is ephemeral, and its pursuit is eternal. All the money can’t buy it, yet a simple thing can trigger it. Upfront: Punjab Congress Nateeje De Payange Channi Charanjit Singh Channi, 58, was sworn in as the 17th chief minister of Punjab, in the process making history as the first Dalit to occupy the chair. It’s a big gamble the Congress is taking, trying to alter caste equations in the state. It won’t be easy for party and Channi to go for elections.  Even before he took oath, party general secretary Harish Rawat flubbed his lines and said the Congress would fight the assembly poll. Upfront: Uttarakhand Pahad Par Chadhai AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal astonished other political parties in Uttarakhand by announcing its election manifesto. Kejriwal announced that if party forms government in the state it will give job to every family, until job not given it will give Rs.5000 as unemployment allowance, 80 percent jobs within state will be reserved for locals. Upfront: Gujarat BJP Naye Logon Par Naya Daon When Prime Minister Narendra Modi chose first-time MLA Bhupendra Patel to lead Gujarat, little did anyone expect that the new chief minister would also have a nearly all-new cabinet? Barring three, all ministers, including the CM, have no previous experience of governance. In 2001, too, the party had taken a big gamble on an inexperienced Narendra Modi and made him chief minister in the wake of the devastating Bhuj earthquake that year. That gamble paid off handsomely for the party.
