Will India Deliver on its Promise? Ever since gaining independence in 1947, the word ‘potential’ has become synonymous with India. However, being able to deliver on that potential has been a hurdle that we, as a nation, have been unable to leap over. In 2016, India finds itself in a unique position, both on the domestic and global fronts. The Digital Revolution has allowed the country to bring itself to the precipice of previously unrealised achievements—all that is needed is a final push. The same factors that have been in play previously (demographic dividend, large number of engineers and doctors produced, etc) are still the pillars on which India’s potential rests on. But what has to be different this time around? Will India finally be able to deliver on its promise? Can a focus on ‘quality’ be the differentiating factor that makes India stand out in the global crowd? Will it be MSMEs that help India cross that ultimate threshold? These are some of the questions we will be looking to answer in this issue.
