The regulatory changes and reforms that have been pushed for the last one decade by successive Indian governments also helped in the growth of the telecommunication sector. Telecom sector has witnessed tremendous changes in terms of the level of competition, extent of technological development and the subscriber base. Increasing competition among players has allowed a drastic reduction in rates. This has made the telecom facility accessible to a very large section of population living in both urban and rural areas. The present paper is an attempt to study selection and switchover behaviour of mobile phone users. According to the study, economical plans turned out to be the most important factor being considered by the users while selecting the service provider. Entry of new players in the market customers were in the process of changing their service providers. Attractive schemes offered by other service provider had been the main reason for the switch over followed by call charges and quality of service.
