The present study was framed to investigate mental health of adolescents who had spent their childhood working as labourers in carpet industry of Bhadohi. For this purpose a sample of 120 subjects, age ranging from 14 to 16 years was randomly drawn from Bhadohi. Out of 120 subjects, 60 subjects were labourers and remaining 60 were matched control non-labourers. All the labourer subjects included in the sample were engaged in manufacturing the carpets from their early childhood stage and having the ability to read and write. They were administered Mental Health Inventory developed by Jagdish and Srivastava. The results of the study revealed significant difference between labourer and non-labourer participants on positive selfevaluation, perception of reality, integration of personality, autonomy, and environmental competence. The difference between overall mental health scores of labourer and non-labourer participants was also found to be significant. The mean score on overall mental health of labourer participants was significantly lower than non-labourer participants.
