A 4×2 factorial design was employed to study the effect of smoking status and gender on the experience, expression and control of anger in adult smokers. For this purpose 400 (200 males and 200 females) subjects were selected from four smoking status, that is, heavy smokers, light smokers, ex-smokers and non-smokers. They were administered Spielberger’s State Trait Anger Expression Inventory. The findings revealed the role of anger in cigarette smoking in adult male and female smokers.
