The objective of writing this book is to go deep into the core issues of conversion and reconversion in the tribal belt of Kandhamal. A secondary objective is to try to give a different perspective to the identity crisis that the people of this area have been facing. Sampark is an impulsive, temperamental character, with a spark of brilliance. Being a philanderer, he is amorously attracted towards any desirable lady, irrespective of her age, without getting entangled with her in emotional terms. Although he is not an agnostic, he doesn't always believe in showing gratitude towards the Almighty for his own achievements; nor does he blame Him for his miseries. But twists and turns of events force him to reassess his approach towards life. That brings him to Orissa, yet again, after a long gap of twenty years. In his quest for a solution to the problem of conversion in the hinterland of Kandhamal, he confronts many hurdles.
