Born in a poor conservative family from a small town, Sameer Tripathi decides early to get well educated to come up in life and chooses science as a career. In Search of a meaningful life, he joins research and proceeds abroad to pursue higher studies as a graduate student. It is there, he starts getting isillusioned with his conventional middle class notion about successful life and feels he is not suitable enough to sustain interest in science for the rest of his life. Born in 1942, the author received his Ph. D. in Chemistry from Banaras Hindu University and proceeded to Canada for further studies. On return he joined a CSIR Lab and then moved on to industry as R&D Scientist and retired after a successful career. He has publications in national and international journals of repute, was a speaker in Calcutta Science Congress and has authored books on advanced research topics. He is widely travelled and has active interest in current social issues. His book "Global Warming" has been published by Rupa & Co. in 2008. 'Dreams are worth chasing' is his first novel. His two other books are under publication.
