Verve’s 3rd edition of its iconic art special describes ‘storytelling through art’. Exploring the modern narrative of contemporary art and referencing it to the origins of visual storytelling, Verve looks at women artists like Surabhi Saraf in video art, Anindita Dutta in performance art, and Hemali Bhuta in sculpture. Covering theatre as a form of dramatic storytelling, we look at Parsi plays through the years, as well as profile three stage actors, Neil Bhoopalam, Hussain Dalal and Karan Pandit. The cover story promises to be a visual spectacle breaking boundaries in a self-reflective digital expression. Designer Aarthi Parthasarathy uses Mughal miniature paintings to create an exclusive graphic story. Three chefs use their skills to create stories through their dishes, and one also gets a glimpse of marzipan confectionery brand Nordic Kandie. We also travel to cities like Venice, Brisbane, Prague and Budapest, viewing them as cities of art.
