New Year means new beginnings, and our January issue marks the first edition of the year. With this as a new beginning of the year, we celebrate “design” as a medium of expression of our thoughts. Design is subjective; it arises out of different perceptions and hence is intriguing. The intriguing factor comes from the fact that it has no boundaries to imagination. We celebrate design of different genres, from residential to hospitality and from commercial to institutional. We have chosen projects that stand out and we are able to differentiate and appreciate the design behind different segments. We also bring the latest and trending brands of the industry which serve the sector and also work towards fulfilling the needs of the user. We have always tried to maintain a paradigm of aesthetics with functionality. Our focus lies in bringing you the best of both, so that it lingers on for a long time. This issue takes you on a journey of a variety of projects. There are two international projects which are our issue’s highlight. One is a luxury residential estate in Cape Town’s Constantia Valley exuding self-assured sophistication through a minimalist approach. Designed by the renowned SAOTA architects and Vivid Architects with interiors by ARRCC, the project is an example of clean lines and functional spaces merged with nature. The other one is a retreat resort in the Himalayas, providing a tranquil environment to the user. Designed by Nepal’s Wonaw and associates, it is a perfect example of an unwinding place. As you move forward in this journey, you will see how a project is carved out of its own site, each differing in geography and topography, bringing out the best of it. This issue provides an insight into how a space looks like, how much it has been transformed, and how much still remains. So, let’s together begin this journey and evolve together, creating a benchmark in architecture. We welcome our readers to submit their projects, inputs, discussions and also encourage submissions from students of our fraternity too. We are social and we would love to hear from you.
