Zaheer Khan, the left arm pace bowler, who recently bid adieu to international cricket,
has cleared the air on his retirement in an exclusive interview with Cricket
Today. According to him, he was thinking of walking away from the game since last
few weeks and after talking to his family members and friends, he decided to hang
his boots. He seems to be a satisfied man after achieving fruitful results in his
career. Pretty much like him, another player, who has been in the news off late, is
Ravindra Jadeja. The left arm spinner was axed from all formats of the game but after
working hard in domestic cricket, he was called back in the Test squad. He was adjudged
Man of the Match for his eight wickets, a crucial 38 in India’s first innings, and two catches
in the first Test match. He continued his performance in the second Test, which was
washed out because of rain and even in the third one which Team India won inside three
days. Earlier, Jadeja was struggling after suffering a shoulder injury and was not able to
repeat his magic after recovering from it which led to his ouster. However, the pain of
axing made him more determined and the result is infront of everyone. It won’t be wrong
so say that he has learned the lesson of his life and won’t leave any stone unturned in the
future series. It will be interesting to see how he performs in the shorter formats of the
game.
