MOVING TOWARDS ZERO HUNGER
India has progressed immensely from being food deficient to a food exporting country. Technology has been playing an important role for the same and strongly associated with the production and processing of number of products in the food and beverage sector. Inspite of these efforts still India was ranked at 102 out of 117 qualifying countries in the latest Global Hunger Index GHI 2019 report with a score of 30.3. It shows that India suffers from a level of hunger that is serious. To overcome the issues of hunger and other SDGs NITI Aayog and the United Nations in India joined hands to prepare a compendium of early lessons in localization of SDGs in collaboration with States and Union Territories UTs. NITI Aayog will continue to playthe role of a catalyst, facilitator and enabler to ensure that theimplementation process moves on a fast track towards the full achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals SDGs.
