​In the May 2017 edition of Power Today, the cover story UDAY – Turning the Tide Truly, focussed on how the UDAY scheme has brought about an initial turnaround in discom efficiency during the last one year. However, sustaining the pace is vital for bringing the power sector out of the woods.  The first feature on coal in power - Future Ready, discussed that despite consisting of a major chunk of India’s energy mix, the coal sector is only now emerging from the dungeons, backed by GoI’s production targets. While the second feature on boilers & turbines - Replacement Market to Drive BTG Demand, found that over the next five years, it is estimated that India may need to replace the boilers to an equivalent of 50,000 MW capacity.
