The October 2016 edition of IPF features three Special Sections. The first, Alternate Energy Sources, concerns the solar and wind power and the Indian government has set up an ambitious target to take India’s renewable energy capacity to 175 GW by 2022, which comprises 100 GW solar, 60 GW wind, 10 GW from biomass and 5 GW from small hydro powers. The other Special Sections, Surface Treatment & Corrosion Protection Products, and Pollution Control Equipment, are related to each other in many ways. The curse of corrosion in industry is literally eating away metals and money. On the plus side, there are now many products and technologies available to combat these problems. As for pollution control, the task is indeed mammoth, and the world has to do much better to fight this menace than the present attempts. As usual, this edition also carries all the regular features.
