folklore the Celts
were Iron Age tribes who lived in what is now Scotland, Ireland, Wales,
and other parts of Europe and is celebrated on 31 October every year.
Halloween tradition for hundreds of years has included wearing
costumes and pranking people. To this day, people of all ages,
especially children, celebrate Halloween by wearing costumes and
taking on roles, and going from house to house ‘trick or treating’.
But taking on roles is not reserved for Halloween, fancy dress
competitions and costume parties alone. Every morning when we wake
up, we take on many roles—the role of a student, of a daughter or son,
of a football player, of a kathak dancer, a friend, a brother or sister and
many others. Each role comes with its own expectations and decisions.
Will you be a hard working or a smart working student Will you make a
mess of your room or will you help mom keep it neat Will you be a
sister who shares or will you be stingy
Most of us usually make the right decision and try to play every
role to the best of our ability. But sometimes, despite our best
efforts, we fall short. At such times, my friends, it is important that you
CUT YOURSELF SOME SLACK! Give yourself a break, instead
of beating yourself up. Success in every role is not guaranteed
although others may expect it of us, but the important thing is that
you try. And that is what really counts.
